LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN AMENDMENT

Amendment to the Stirling City Centre Station Precinct Local Development Plan

Council has previously adopted a planning framework for the Stirling City Centre which identifies it as an area where more homes will be built and development undertaken to help create a City Centre. To help deliver that vision, Council, at its meeting on 5 July 2016, adopted a Local Development Plan for the Station Precinct of the Stirling City Centre

The purpose of the Local Development Plan is to provide standards for future development in this precinct. A number of lots within Trevithick Close have been zoned to allow increased development to take place.

The Local Development Plan for those sites that can be redeveloped requires vehicle access to come from Trevithick Close. Council has decided to change the Local Development Plan so that access to the sites is gained from Telford Crescent. There is a strip of land between the development sites and Telford Crescent which is set aside as a public recreation reserve. This means that it is not possible to access the development sites from Telford Crescent whilst this land retains its public recreation reserve status.

To enable access from Telford Crescent, Council has to do two things.

Firstly it needs to change the status of the land between the development sites so that it forms part of the road reserve. Council resolved to do this on 12 June 2018, and the process necessary for this to happen is underway.

Secondly, the Local Development Plan needs to be changed to reflect these changes, and on 3 July 2018, Council resolved that the Station Precinct Local Development Plan be amended to allow vehicle access to Telford Crescent, and to require development applications to show how this access will be provided.

Where can I find more information about the amendment?

More information about why the City is amending the Local Development Plan can be found in the Council report, which is located in the Document Library.

The Local Development Plan documentation the City is proposing to modify is located in the Document Library.
