Dianella Industrial Area

The Dianella Industrial Area and the Walter Road Local Centre is an area in transition. The industrial uses are slowly declining, while the surrounding neighbourhoods are being redeveloped into flourishing residential communities.

There have been several studies and proposed Local Planning Scheme amendments since 2009 to try and facilitate the transition of this area from Industrial to Residential and Mixed Use developments.

A Local Planning Scheme amendment has recently been approved by the West Australian Planning Commission (refer to Figure 1).

The amendment has rezoned the Dianella Industrial Area from ‘Industrial’ to ‘Local Centre’ and ‘Residential’ zones, with the residential zoning being designated a density coding of R-AC0.
