Development Assessment Panel - 50 and 52 Porter Street GWELUP – Commercial Child Care Centre

Please be advised the City is not the decision maker for this application and the application will instead be determined by the Metro North-West Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) due to the value of works.

The City’s role is to provide a recommendation to the JDAP through a Responsible Authority Report (RAR). As part of preparing the City’s RAR to the JDAP we are seeking your comments on the proposal. Your comments will be included within the RAR to ensure that the community’s views have the opportunity to form part of the JDAP’s consideration of the proposal.

Why is this Development Application being advertised to seek public comment?

The proposal is briefly described as follows:

A Child Care Premises development compromising:

  • Development of a two storey Child Care Premises on the southern portion of the subject sites
  • The centre encompasses a total of 1,465m² built form across two storeys in addition to outdoor play areas
  • Capacity for 112 children and 22 staff
  • Operational hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm weekdays, with staff arrival and departure 30 minutes either side of operating hours
  • Provision of 24 car parking bays on site.

The Development Assessment Panel application is to be assessed against the provisions of the following City of Stirling Local Planning Policies:

  • Local Planning Policy 2.6 – Residential Building Heights
  • Local Planning Policy 6.1 – Advertising Signs
  • Local Planning Policy 6.2 – Bicycle Parking
  • Local Planning Policy 6.3 – Bin Storage Areas
  • Local Planning Policy 6.4 – Child Day Care Centres
  • Local Planning Policy 6.6 – Landscaping
  • Local Planning Policy 6.7 – Parking & Access
  • Local Planning Policy 6.11 – Trees and Development.
